Joint outreach campaign aids children at St Francis

All the stakeholders of the drive are keen to alleviate poverty.

Unilever, along with Ekupholeni, the Boksburg North SAPS, Youth Desk and the CPF, handed gift packs to children at St Francis Care Centre as part of a Give a Gift Drive-by Campaign on June 18.

Patrick Classen, inland security manager for Unilever, said it was the first time they have donated to St Francis, but these kinds of social responsibility projects are ongoing within the company.

“The St Francis gift packs contained Unilever grocery and toiletry products,” he said. “The company has been giving donations of this nature for many years and reached many facilities and centres around the country.

“Our aim is to help the underprivileged where most needed through identifying an area or centre that could benefit from assistance. We hope to spark change in communities and help alleviate poverty.

“As seen by the joining of hands with other stakeholders in aid of St Francis, we strongly believe that change can start with each of us,” Classen said.

The spokesperson of Boksburg North SAPS, Constable Justice Ramaube said they were pleased to be part of this drive to help the needy.

“The generosity of Unilever does not go unnoticed and shows the community that they are not only focused on profits but care about the upliftment of local communities.

“I would like to thank all the stakeholders that made this drive possible. This won’t end here. We will continue doing our best to help those in need,” said Ramaube.
