EMPD officers move up the rank

The chief of police appreciated and acknowledged the dedication of all the promoted members.

A total of 12 EMPD officers have been promoted and bestowed new ranks.

During the June 2 ceremony held at the EMPD headquarters in Kempton Park, 10 inspector and two lieutenant-colonels ranks were bestowed.

EMPD spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Kelebogile Thepa said the municipal commissioner of EMPD, Chief IJ Mapiyeye, has illustrated his commitment to mending the disparities within the department.
He appreciated and acknowledged the dedication of all the promoted members.

The following education, training and development practitioners were appointed as inspectors: KA Mlakeng, AK Mntungwa, M Motaung, MA Lebogo, D Kisten, AC Khan, BH Nkabinde, DI Sewmungal, TH Gwebu, and VP Mkhize.

“They have executed the task of converting to a police officer at the EMPD training academy with great competency,” said Mapiyeye.
“While Lebepe and Singh were bestowed the lieutenant-colonel ranks, the pair is no strangers to operations and specialised services respectively. Being of managerial competency, the duo is instructed to lead with passion and dedication as this profession is a calling to most.“

The chief of police reiterated that there are still a lot of opportunities for growth within the department.
