CoE launches meat safety campaign to prevent food-borne disease outbreaks

The campaign is held under the theme: 'Safer food, better health'.

The City of Ekurhuleni launched a meat safety campaign to prevent food-borne disease outbreaks caused by poor handling of meat products.

The launch was held on June 8 and is followed by other campaign activations on June 9 and 10.

According to metro spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, environmental health practitioners are, as part of the campaign, visiting various food handling premises across the city to reinforce meat handling regulations through education and awareness.
“The campaign strengthens the activities already undertaken by the city’s environmental health practitioners through monthly regulatory compliance blitzes,” said Dlamini.
The campaign activations, held under the theme, ‘Safer food, better health’, are held as follows:

Southern Region
June 8, 09:00 to 14:00
1. Chris Hani Mall, Vosloorus
2. Meat World New Redruth, Alberton
3. Natalspruit Business Hub, Cnr Hospital & Khotso Street, Katlehong

Eastern Region
June 9, 09:00 to 14:00

3. Meat World, Springs Fresh Produce Market, Paul Kruger Highway

Northern Region
June 10, 09:00 to 14:00
