Don’t miss out on these Youth Day celebration happenings in Boksburg

June 16 marks Youth Day, and several Boksburg organisations, individuals and the metro have organised events to commemorate the heroes of June 16, 1976.

Here are some of the many events happening around town to celebrate the 46th anniversary of Youth Day.
Boksburg North
Residents of Boksburg North are invited to a soccer tournament at Comet Primary School sports ground. The tournament will kick off at 11:00 with Boksburg City FC playing against Calulo United FC. This will include games between the teams U11, U13, U15 and U17.

Another youth event will be held in the school hall on June 18 where speakers including pastors and politicians will deliver talks on issues affecting the youth. Singers and dancers will entertain the crowd. At both events, drinks and fruits will be on sale to raise funds for charity. Reiger Park Youth Committee
To celebrate the day, the Reiger Park Ward 34 youth committee invites residents, youth, in particular, to attend a parade which will start from Fieto’s at 08:00. The parade will go through the township towards the stadium next to Oos-Rand Secondary School with several festivities throughout the day (June 16).

These will include a line-up of DJs, sports games and a platform for the youth to showcase their various talents. For more information on the event, you may contact youth leader Danielle Lion on 071 140 6345.

Boksburg SAPS
To celebrate Youth Day, the Boksburg SAPS has organised a sport-against-crime event at the Comet Village sports ground on June 16. Soccer teams, including the police team, will be battling against each other.

The event will also feature talks on gender-based violence (GBV), domestic violence, crime in general and motivational speakers. For more information, call Sergeant Ntsako Ledwaba on 071 676 7774.

Eskort -Boksburg
On June 15, Eskort Boksburg store will hand out 2 000 hot dogs to underprivileged children at New Comet Primary School to commemorate Youth Day. The event will kick off at 09:00. For more information, contact Marcel Goodman on 066 485 1366.

Flock of God
To commemorate Youth Day, Flock of God, a Boksburg-based NPO, will hold an event designed to empower small businesses run by the youth on June 16. The event will be held at Edge Fuel Garage on Commissioner Street, next to the Boksburg SAPS, starting from 11:00 to 15:00.

City Of Ekurhuleni
The City of Ekurhuleni has, in partnership with several organisations, embarked on a series of youth events across the City to celebrate Youth Month. The youth programme was set off on June 6 and will run up until early in July. It amongst others have members of the State Health Research Advisory Council (SHRAC) taking part in a youth camp on tackling drugs and substance abuse, from June 6 -10 at Sanca Horizon.
