Counterfeit goods confiscated at fleamarket

Fines were issued and counterfeits goods confiscated.

A staged operation at East Rand Traders Square on May 27 to search for counterfeit goods yielded good results.

Officers of Boksburg North SAPS, led by Sergeant Basani Mehale and Sergeant Martin Rikhotso, in partnership with the EMPD, JMPD as well as brand protectors were part of the operation.

“Approximately 10 shops were searched while four were slapped with a fine equating to the amount of R1 000 each,” said Boksburg North SAPS spokesperson Constable Justice Ramaube.

The spokesperson added counterfeit goods on the street to the value of approximately R80 000 were also confiscated.

He described the operation as a success.
