Property company helps NPO

The NPO has been assisting the community members of Plantation for more than seven years.

Keller Williams Clockwork Properties, based at Star Street in Atlasville, donated a jungle gym to The Urban Ruins Project NPO’s ECD centre on May 12.

The company also treated learners of the centre to a meal and painted the centre’s structure inside and outside, including its furniture.

CEO of The Urban Ruins Project Clayton Viljoen said he is overwhelmed by excitement because of what the property company did for his NPO.

“I can’t contain my joy because of what has happened here today. Keller Williams Clockwork Properties has rejuvenated our centre and they went extra mile by drawing good educational artwork in our centre. I’d like to thank them for what they have done for us as a centre,” said Vilsoen.

Vilsoen added that he has been running the centre for more than seven years and it has played a pivotal role in the area, especially among the community members. We impart working skills to our community members and thereafter we find jobs for them. We aim to alleviate poverty in our area.

“We also run a feeding scheme in the centre and it feeds 75 families. Our ECD centre has 60 learners in it. We have a youth development programme that helps the youth with their schoolwork and homework. In that programme we have approximately 120 youth.

“However, we are taking this opportunity to ask for help. We need any person or company to come and remove the skateboard track in our yard, because it is preventing us from building another structure. We need seeds and any type of food on daily basis, and any person who wants to donate anything to us can call me on 081 747 0833.” said Viljoen.

The team leader of Keller Williams Clockwork Properties, Ivan Jansen, said they donated and worked at the centre as part of the annual drive called red-day.

“We mainly focus on giving back to the community in the drive that we initiate annually. In our red-day drive, we mainly focus on changing people’s lives. We decided to come to this centre because we were touched by the fact that they are taking care of children and the community at large in their area.

“As we are helping the centre, we are also encouraging other companies or people to help because it is really making a difference in its area.

“I would like to thank the companies that made this drive possible today, which are Official Media, Universal Paints, Nel Attorneys, Independent Mortgage Originators, Mulaudzi Attorneys, Dippenaar Attorneys, Louwrens Coetzer Attorneys, Brakpan Paint and Ultra Security Solutions,” said Jansen.
