A Boksburg South couple survived a home invasion when a gang of three armed men robbed their home on President Brand Street on May 4.

According to police reports, the couple woke up at about 02:00 by a commotion in the house before they noticed five men in the bedroom. The pair was tied up with a scarf before taken to the living room, where the intruders started to help themselves to valuable items. They took a TV set, sound system, cell phone, laptop, projector, clothes, wifi router and a car battery. No shots were fired, and no injuries reported.

On May 4, a gang of thugs wearing police masks hijacked a vehicle in Boksburg, and held the driver hostage before dumping him in an undisclosed location.

According to police reports, the Germiston man was driving along Van Wyk Louw Drive in Parkrand when the occupants of a blue Toyota Corolla impersonating a police officer signalled for him to pull off. He complied and one of them men approached his vehicle, a Volkswagen Tiguan, and started questioning him about the vehicle ownership.

Three men from the Corolla suddenly jumped into the victim’s vehicle and pushed the man onto the back seat where he was blindfolded and tied up with shoelaces. They took the victim’s cell phone and bank cards.

When they reached an undisclosed location, the victim was transferred into another vehicle and dumped at unknown area. The complainant later walked to a nearby main road where he received help from a taxi driver who borrowed his cellphone to him for phoning his friends to get him.

A Plantation man watched helplessly as gunmen stole his Honda motorcycle in broad daylight on May 5. The victim told police that he received a tip-off about people removing the motorcycle. Upon checking, he noticed the five men putting his motorcycle onto a white Nissan NP200. He tried to intervene, but they aimed a gun at him before leaving with his motorcycle.
