Boksburg thugs target vehicles, CBD businesses

Recent police reports have indicated that businesses in the Boksburg CBD have become popular targets of burglaries of late, and vehicles are on the 'wanted list' by criminals in Boksburg.

Burgled CBD businesses
• Thieves forced their way into a business, located corner Market and Eloff streets in the Boksburg CBD, and stole goods worth thousands of rand sometime between April 11 and 13. Stolen goods included electrical equipment, two basins and water taps.

• Also in the CBD, thieves broke in through the roof of a business, and stole goods worth thousands of rand, probably during the night sometime before April 14. Stolen goods included copper pipes and electrical cables.

• Police are searching for burglars who they say targeted a business on Leeuwpoort Street where they broke in through the roof and stole goods sometime during the night between April 21 and 22. The stolen goods are deep freezer fan motor and lots of steel.

• Still in the Boksburg CBD, thieves forced opened the door of a business on Commissioner Street and stole valuable goods during the night between April 22 and 23. They stole 12 computers including nine laptops, 15 cellphones, chargers and other cellphone accessories, and a generator.

Targeted vehicles
• A driver had his vehicle, a Nissan NP 200 bakkie, stolen from the roadside parking area on Bank Street in the Boksburg CBD in broad daylight on April 19.

• A motorist recently had his orange Toyota Hilux Dakar stolen while parked near Naarnbekker and Watermeyer streets in Parkrand.

• A van Dyk Park man had his white Toyota Hilux bakkie stolen while parked outside Laerskool Baanbreker on April 23. The victim told the police that he had just parked the vehicle and went inside the school accompanying his child, but when he returned to the spot about an hour later, the vehicle was gone.

• Another complainant told the police that on April 23 he returned to his employer’s white Nissan bakkie parked on Burg Street in Boksburg East to find that someone had tried to force open the door, probably with the intention to steal the vehicle or its contents.

• A Farrar Park resident told the police that he was driving along Rondebult Road when he noticed a vehicle, a white SUV, flashing lights from behind his car on April 16, signalling to him to pull over. He ignored it, but when he reached a red traffic light, one man jumped out of the SUV and aimed a gun at him and instructed him to get out of his car.
The complainant drove away and called armed response security company, and the response team reacted and found the SUV. However, the occupants of the vehicle denied that they pointed the complainant with a weapon and they were not arrested.
