Woman waiting for taxi raped

Police are calling on community members to come forward with information regarding the incident.

Boksburg North police have requested information in a case in which a 31-year-old woman was raped and robbed on the morning of April 2 between Rondebult Road and Annabella Street, next to the N12.

According to Boksburg North SAPS spokesperson Const Justice Ramaube, the victim told police the incident happened after she left her home in Vosloorus to go to work in Jet Park.

“According to the woman, she was waiting for a taxi in North Rand Road, just next to House of Ribs opposite the Engen, when an unknown man advised her to go to the other side of the road as she is going to wait longer for a taxi at the spot where she was standing.

“He was referring her to an open veld next to the N12,” said Ramaube.

“The woman explained she went to the said place, not realising the man was following her.

“While next to the open veld, the same man took out a knife and told the victim he was going to rape her.

“She said he pulled down her pants and raped her. Afterwards, he assaulted the victim and threatened her not to tell anyone. He also made off with her iPhone.”

Police are investigating a case of rape and appeal to the community to assist them with information that could lead to the apprehension of the suspect.
