BFS operations net nine suspects, recover stolen vehicles and drugs

Investigations into all the cases continue.

Here is a round-up of some of the key arrests made by the Benoni Flying Squad in Boksburg (BFS) and other surrounding towns.

According to BFS spokesperson WO Grant Giblin, members of the unit arrested nine suspects and recovered five vehicles in separate incidents during their law enforcement operations held between March 11 and 13.

Drug bust
• BFS members confiscated drugs and arrested three suspects in Reiger Park for drug-related crimes on March 13. During the early hours of Sunday morning when the team stormed a residential property on Ihashi Street in Ramaphosa, they found 228 packets of crystal methamphetamine, 156 Mandrax tablets, 292 half tablets of Mandrax, 200 packets of dagga and 30 glass pipes, used for smoking crystal methamphetamine. The three arrested suspects had R5 590 on them, believed to be proceeds of crime.

• Four more suspects were arrested for possession of drugs in other separate busts in Barcelona Extension 24, Daveyton, Etwatwa, Station Road, Brakpan and Emoyeni Section in Tembisa. Crystal methamphetamine, Mandrax and dagga were found during the police swoop on alleged drug dealers.

Recovered vehicles
BFS officers recovered five stolen vehicles found in different locations in the City.
Investigation into a white Hino truck stolen in Brakpan led officers to Carnival Gardens in Dinare Street, Brakpan, where one suspect was immediately arrested when he was found in possession of the stolen truck.

A white Toyota Corolla reported stolen in the Germiston area was found in Buhle Park, Leondale.
A white Ford Ranger reported stolen in Witbank was found in Mandela Section, Etwatwa.
A white Volkswagen Polo reported hijacked in the Rabie Ridge area was found in Zone 10, Winnie Mandela.
A white Hino truck was found abandoned on High Road in Pomona after it was reported hijacked on a Silverton case.

Assault
Members attended a complaint of fighting at an Engen 1-Stop South, where one suspect was arrested for assault. The suspects were scheduled to appear in their relevant magistrate’s courts to face charges of possession of and dealing in drugs, possession of a stolen motor vehicle and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Investigations into the above cases continue.
