FCS unit puts three rapists in jail for life

Successes prove the detectives' dedication to the service.

Investigations by members of the Benoni Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) recently secured the life imprisonment of three rapists.

Thabang Ndlangamandla (28) was sentenced to life imprisonment on two counts of rape.
In August 2020, Ndlangamandla, who was a traditional healer in Etwatwa, diagnosed his victim with a life-threatening disease that required treatment within seven days.
As he was a reputable healer within the community, the family trusted him and agreed to his services.
At his home, he raped the victim twice and told her to remain silent.
The matter was reported to the Etwatwa Police Station and was investigated by Det Const Sipho Ndaba of FCS.

Jerry Radebe (60) was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment, plus an additional 15 years for the rape and sexual assault of two children aged four and five.
On November 12, 2018, the victims, who were playing in the street in Emaphupheni Section, Etwatwa, were lured to the perpetrator’s shack with the promise of sweets.
When a family member started looking for the girls, they emerged from Radebe’s home with sweets.
They told their cousin that Radebe had kissed them and inserted his fingers into their private parts.
The case was reported to the Etwatwa Police Station and was investigated by Det Sgt Ramonono Nyofane of FCS.

Mbongeni Malematholo (30) was handed a life sentence for rape.
Malematholo was renting out a shack on his property to the victim (14) and her mother in Gabon, Daveyton.
On August 16, he woke the victim and told her to go with him into his house.
He raped her but was interrupted when his girlfriend came home and demanded to know why the tenant was in their house.
He closed the bedroom door, preventing the victim from leaving, she continued to scream for help, which led to her mother rescuing her.
A case of rape was reported to the Daveyton Police Station and was investigated by Det Const Moses van Wyk of FCS.

According to Ekurhuleni district commissioner Anna Sithole, the convictions are a testament to the unit’s dedication.
“We applaud our detectives for ensuring that those who abuse women and children are brought to book and pay for their evil deeds,” she said.
