Man alleged to have raped girlfriend’s friend and spiked their drinks

He reportedly said he was sorry and gave his girlfriend R400 to accompany the victim to a doctor.

Boksburg North SAPS apprehended a 27-year-old man for allegedly raping a 21-year-old in his home in Third Street on the morning of February 25.

According to Boksburg North SAPS spokesperson Const Justice Ramaube, Det Sgts David Making, Clement Komane and Reinah Malope made the arrest.

“The Tsakani resident, who works in Dunswart, told the police that on February 24, there were no taxis available to take her and her friend home after work at about 19:00.

“Her friend then called her boyfriend to assist with a place to sleep. Her friend’s boyfriend came to fetch the women and took them to his house.

“While at his place, the boyfriend offered them a beer to drink and went out to get more. When he came home he cooked for them.

“According to the victim, she and her friend went to bed afterwards while her friend’s boyfriend stayed on the couch.

“However, the victim told the police the friend’s boyfriend raped her a few hours later.

“Furthermore, she alleged that she asked him why he was doing it and he said she should just kiss him and not make a noise.

“The victim said the next morning, her friend asked her why she had sex with her boyfriend. She then explained that he raped her.

“When the women questioned the suspect, he said that he was sorry and gave his girlfriend R400 to accompany the victim to a doctor.

“The other woman alleged that she did not see the rape taking place, but said her leggings were pulled down to her knees. She wasn’t sure if she was also sexually violated or not.

“The victim further suspects that their drinks were spiked as they blacked out after only one drink,” Ramaube added.

The victim went to the police station to open a case of rape against the suspect, which got him arrested and detained. She did not have any visible injuries.

Boksburg North SAPS station commander Col Mack Mngomezulu commended the members for their swift response in arresting the suspect.
