Woman tied up, robbed at retirement village

The suspects fled with items such as jewellery.

A resident was tied up and robbed of her belongings in her cottage at Alan Woodrow Park Retirement Village on January 3.

According to the general manager of the village, Rob van der Walt, three suspects gained access to her cottage around 01:00 through an open window.

“The suspects fled with items such as jewellery. Our resident was left emotionally rattled under the circumstances,” she said.

“What happened is devastating as our residents’ safety is important to us. We don’t want people to panic; we’re on top of it. We’re in the process of building a tall wall in an attempt to keep our residents safer,” said van der Walt.

The Advertiser is still awaiting confirmation from the police.
