Any licenced and registered motor vehicle operated on the roadway must be fitted or affixed with at least two registration number plates.
Number plates must have the correct background, according to the province’s requirements (blue appropriate and required fonts with the white background, for Gauteng).
Any form of advertising on number plates is illegal. There is no admission of guilt for an altered or falsified non-RSA licence number or mark or if, in possession thereof.
The EMPD officers won’t hesitate to handcuff a motorist found operating a vehicle fitted with a plate with a licence number not applicable to such vehicle and also if number plates do not display the same licence number, etc.
