Illegal dumping a cause for concern

Ward 32 councillor Marius de Vos is also concerned about illegal dumping taking place in the CBD.

A resident is at his wits’ end with an illegal dumping site in Asijiki Street, Windmill Park.

According to Lungile Sithole, the issue has been ongoing for several months now.

“The matter has been reported to no avail. It was so bad that I resorted to paying somebody to remove the dirt. The flies were just too much,” he said.

The Advertiser noticed there are several illegal dumping spots in Boksburg, such as along Market Street.

Ward 32 councillor Marius de Vos also expressed his concern about illegal dumping in his ward.

“The Boksburg CBD has been a mess for over five years now. I escalated the problem to the relevant department, but nothing improved. The metro should educate residents on when and where to put out their trash. By-laws should also be enforced. Some businesses also dump their rubble, however, they’re not held accountable for it.”

The Advertiser is still awaiting comment from the metro.
