Update: Hero dog Kei doing well after jaw operation

The operation was done to place a titanium plate in her jaw.

Kei, the two-year-old Belgian Malinois-cross, is doing well at home after undergoing an intense operation recently.

The operation was done to place a titanium plate in her jaw.

Kei’s jaw was fractured by a bullet when she was shot while trying to protect her family from intruders who stormed the Lamont family home in Lakefield, Benoni, in October.

Dog owner Sarah Lamont said Kei is doing great after her operation and will go for a check-up this week. During the house robbery, one of the suspects and the family’s five-year-old Yorkshire terrier, Holly, were shot and killed.
