Boksburg SAPS welcomes acting commander

The new leaders said she was ready to hit the ground running with her plans to make Boksburg safer.

The Boksburg police management announced last week that the process to appoint a new station commander has begun following the departure of Col Daniel Baloyi.

Baloyi, who took over from the former Boksburg SAPS station commander, Col Biggs Govender, in 2016, has retired after 36 years in the police force. Lt-Col Badelisile Ndwandwe will be at the helm serving as acting station commander.

It is, however, understood that candidates for the station commander position have been short-listed and the new leader could be announced soon.

Ndwandwe comes with extensive experience in the police services and is expected to add value to the safety of Boksburg.

After taking over as boss at the final stage of the transition period on November 30, Ndwandwe said she was ready to hit the ground running with her plans to make Boksburg safer, in particular during the festive season – a period when robberies tend to spike.

She will follow in her predecessor’s footsteps and work with all the relevant stakeholders to rid her area of criminal activities.

The acting commander urged residents, including businesses and community leaders, to work with the police to rid the town of crime.

Ndwandwe joined the SAPS in 1991 and has been serving in Boksburg since 2016.
