Counterfeit goods seized at local storage

Sekgobela explained that fake goods are usually destroyed when the case is finalised.

Police confiscated fake erection tablets, sneakers and clothing brands worth about R38 000 at a storage facility in Champion Street on November 12.

Members of the crime intelligence discovered the counterfeit goods after receiving a tip-off.

According to Ekurhuleni district communications officer Capt Neldah Sekgobela, upon arrival at the given address, members of crime intelligence found a security guard at the gate who let them inside the property.

“The security guard phoned the landlord, who claimed she was renting out the space to another woman. When the police phoned the woman, her phone rang unanswered,” Sekgobela said.
