The All-Girl Advantage at St Dominic’s

St Dominic’s Catholic School for Girls, Boksburg “One School, One Family, One Spirit”

Choosing a school for your daughter can be a daunting task. At St Dominic’s Catholic School for Girls it is our passion and our privilege to nurture young women to become the best versions of themselves. Our school has just over 1000 girls ranging from the age of 2 to Matric and our educational offering has a strong emphasis on future-focused, holistic, Catholic education.

At St Dominic’s we understand young women. We encourage our girls to explore and develop their potential spiritually, academically, on the sports field and in the cultural arena. We believe that an environment where girls are encouraged to take centre-stage in every endeavour plays a significant role in developing both confidence and a grit mindset. The prominence of our alumni in business, law and the health sciences is testimony to this.

In an all-girls school, girls develop a unique sense of sisterhood and belonging, which often lasts long after school. We foster an atmosphere of caring, concern and respect for others. Upon entering St Dominic’s, our girls become a significant part of the St Dominic’s family and the traditions that have sustained us for nearly a century.

Nestled behind the beautiful 100-year-old buildings, however, is a future-focused school. All our classrooms are equipped with wifi, data projectors and interactive white-boards. Our generator ensures that teaching days are never disrupted by power outages. Classrooms are configured with modern furniture that suits different learning styles and needs. Modern media centres ensure that our students have areas in which to work quietly or engage in personal research. In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, our hybrid system has allowed us to switch easily between on site and online teaching and learning.

We our proud of our emphasis on academic excellence and our exceptional IEB matric results are testimony to this. Most of our students go on to further their studies at tertiary level either here or overseas.  A broad range of subjects is offered to cater for varying interests and aptitudes. We are mindful of the global competencies required by our learners in the 21 century and build these into the weft and weave of our curriculum. For example, our students are introduced to coding and robotics early on in primary school.

Our extensive campus boasts world-class sports facilities which include a state-of-the-art aquatics centre and an Astro. In line with our quest to offer a holistic, values-based education, all students are encouraged to participate in the vast array of sporting and cultural activities on offer. We are delighted that many of our students achieve Provincial and National recognition in their chosen codes.
