Your voting experience and election results

South African voters went to the polls to mark their ballots in the sixth democratic municipal elections, held on November 1.

The Advertiser asked readers about their voting experience and how the process went in their respective voting venues.

Charmaine Burger: We went to vote. My daughter would have been a first-time voter but could not vote due to some kind of registration mix up. She was very disappointed as she was looking forward to her vote. The lady did try to assist as much as she could. Then she told us that my daughter was the third person with the same problem. Otherwise, there were no problems. The people were very friendly.

BianZa Wilson: I voted at Witfield AGS, there was only a half an hour wait in the queue. All went smoothly.

Debbie Jenkins Leathers: We voted at Summerfields Primary. My husband is a pensioner, so we went in and sat for about two minutes before we were shown where to go. No problem at all.

Monica Visser: I voted at Laerskool Witfield and it was very organised and professional. It took me about a minute to vote at about 11.00. Well done!

Joey Spangenberg: Voted in Montagu, Western Cape. No problems at all. WC tops.

Elzette Schultz: Was great; just no social distancing between the staff.

Annatjie Fraser: Voted at a church in Main Street, Witfield. A breeze, quick and IEC members trained and friendly.

Jossie Loggenberg: Stem in Parkrand. Vinnig gewees. Kry volgende keer mense wat kan lees.

Andrea Mendes: My family and I voted at Summerfields Primary School. The queue was very long. It took two hours until we were done, but it went very quick once we were inside.

Andre Visser: Polokwane 10 min in en uit.

Annemarie Vorster: Voted at Parkdene Primary. Well organised and protocols followed. Five minutes or so. Was great

Paula Smith: I voted at Laerskool van Dyk Park, 20 minutes in and out. IEC officials were friendly and efficient.

Tinus Bester: Couldn’t vote as the queues were far too long at the Atlasville tennis club.

Poulienkie Manamela: Voted at Voortrekker High; everything went well and there was no long queue around 14:00. It was just in and out.

Zaynab Kajee: Voted at Lakefield tennis courts. Was a breeze, five minutes in and out.

Eva Viljoen: Me and my hubby didn’t encounter any problems. Our friend registered at Goudrand but when he wanted to vote yesterday, the IEC officials couldn’t find his details. He wasted a whole hour for nothing. He did lodge a complaint, but we know nothing can be done now.

Dawn Mills: Voted at Summerfields Primary School in Impala Park. I queued for three and a half hours. It was the longest I ever had to wait to vote. Once I had finally made it inside, it went quickly. Tiring experience but cast my vote.

Charmaine Michael Pelser: Voted at Boksburg High and was in and out in a matter of minutes. The staff was super friendly and very efficient. Everything was well organised.

Maudeen Collier: I voted at Parkdene Primary and it took less than 30minutes in and out. Perfectly run. They obviously knew exactly what they were doing.

Michelle Mayes: Voted at Summerfields Primary two hours later we finally reached the entrance, but inside was quick.

Christelle van Deventer: Ons het geen probleme gehad nie behalwe dat ons op twee verskillende plekke moes stem, maar almal was baie gaaf en behulpsaam. Die ry by Goudrand was baie lank gewees.

Jenene Natasha Howroyd: I voted at the East Rand Italian Club. It took five minutes if that. Everything ran smoothly, very efficient and quick. Best voting experience so far.

Michael Els: Parkdene Primary School .No waiting in an out within 10 minutes. All protocols were followed and everything went very well.

Bongani Radebe: It took me less than 10 minutes around 11:00 to cast my vote in Ward 42.

Coral Ann Daniëls: Voted at van Dyk Park Primary. It was very slow… but I made my mark.
