New CBC management team appointed

New and improved developments in the pipeline for CBC learners and staff.

Following the resignation of Christian Brothers College’s (CBC) long-serving principal Jim Connell in June, new management has been appointed.

The new leadership structure is made up of Darren Flood (acting college principal), Asani Phiri (college deputy principal) and Matthew Moolman (primary school principal).

Flood, previously the deputy principal, has been teaching at the school since 1997 and is an Old Boy of the college.

He was head boy of the Class of 1992 while Phiri, who was the college’s marketing officer, boasts 18 years of service at the school and served as a housemaster in the high school for seven years.

Moolman was previously a housemaster in the high school and has 15 years of experience, seven of which were gained at the college.

Justin Stoop.

Justin Stoop completes the management team and is the director of sports. Stoop is also an Old Boy and was head boy of the Class of 2002. He has 13 years of service at the college.

Speaking about some of the developments the college is undergoing, Flood said they are busy with the upgrading of the pre-primary school playground and science laboratory and converting the boarding house to a cultural and wellness centre.

“The school has for the first time introduced educational psychologists, educational therapists and physiotherapists who will be based at this centre at the convenience of the learners and staff. “We are also running staff development for our support staff who are currently doing basic computer lessons,” explained Flood.

Phiri reiterated that CBC Boksburg is the oldest independent boys’ school in the East Rand.

“We are proud of our outstanding matric results year after year and these are indebted to our professional and dedicated teaching staff and the hardworking learners,” he said.
