Local learner wins big at National High School Quiz competition

The school management team and staff were amazed at Mayibongwe's achievement.

Third-placed Mayibongwe Ncube represented the Gauteng region in the National High Schools Quiz finals, where he earned third place. For the achievement, he pocketed R3 000, a tablet, power bank, wireless earphones and Bluetooth speaker. The school was also rewarded R6 000, whereas the coach was rewarded R1 500.

Balmoral College learner Mayibongwe Ncube made his school very proud in the National High Schools Quiz held at the Varsity College campus in Sandton on October 2.

Eight contestants represented Port Elizabeth, Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg. These were the learners who came first and second in their respective regional competitions held across the country.
Contestants battled it out for question after question in the finals. Juane Oosthuizen earned first place followed by Caeden Smith and Mayibongwe Ncube (best in the Johannesburg region).

The principal Memory Wium and staff were amazed at Mayibongwe’s achievement.
