The Ekurhuleni Arts Exhibition, which took place on Heritage Day, September 24, brought hope and joy to artists who have been affected by the pandemic.

The event attracted dozens of young and old people from various parts of Ekurhuleni to the Vuka Darkie container mall near Klippoortje, where the event took place.

According to the organiser, Motsumi oa Mphirime, the event went smoothly and a lot of people came through to support the 20 exhibitors.

The exhibitors included painters, sculptures, photographers, performing artists, poets, beer makers, bottle designers and self-publishing writers.

“This event brought hope and optimism to many artists who never had an artistic home in Ekurhuleni. This new network of art enthusiasts has now established new relations and alliances between Ekurhuleni artists and those from other cities.”

Expressing gratitude, Mphirime thanked Paul of Vuka Darkie Container Mall, Sello Sello and the Soweto Vintage Cars Club for blessing the event with their Classic Cars.

“We would also like to thank the Caxton team and Kasi FM for helping us to spread the artistic word.”
Mphirime added that though the event went smoothly, there was a big need for sponsorship.
“It would have been nice if we had prizes for the participating exhibitors. For our next project, aimed to take place sometime in March, we are looking for potential sponsors to come on board and lend a helping hand.”
