Local author writes about fatherhood

In his book, Geqeza addresses the questions of What is a father? What is the responsibility of a father? Where are the true fathers?

Villa Liza’s Dr Abraham Mlindeli Geqeza, who recently released his first book titled Where are the fathers?, wants to encourage fathers to take their rightful stand and raise children according to the ways of the Lord.

On August 28, Geqeza held a book launch at Christ Through all Gospel Outreach Ministries, a church he is leading.

“The book was received positively. Many people said this subject of fathers is long overdue and needs serious attention. From the book launch, an organisation of fathers and children is being birthed where we will be doing counselling, talk shows, motivations and teachings on parenting and childhood,” he said.

In his book, Geqeza addresses the questions of What is a father? What is the responsibility of a father? Where are the true fathers?

“People expect to read about the true meaning and responsibilities of a father and how to correct the mistakes fathers and children have made.

“This is the book that was laid in my heart after looking at my life and things around me. I was dealing with many young people and and I discovered there was a missing link of fatherhood in the community, in homes and even in churches. Fathers are very scarce today. They are not taking on their responsibilities and are neglecting their homes, children and wives,” explained Geqeza.

Asked about the inspiration behind the book, Geqeza answered, “When I was a child I never had a good relationship with my father, even though he did everything in his power to meet my basic needs, especially at school. But the relationship with my father was not there. I used to spend only three or four weeks with my father during December when he was on leave.

“Then, I went out to do the work of God without a father and a mentor. I was all alone and without anyone and I struggled a lot to get to do what God has sent me to do. I would depend on what God has said and I used to meet many fathers, whom I called the fathers next door. This was until I met with Dr Vuyo Dineka who adopted me and became a father to me.”

The author hopes this book will reach every home, be online and be in most book stores.

“I also want to see it produce true fathers.”
