Ramaphosa children welcome spring

The sun came out to play on Spring Day, September 1.

Children of Ramaphosa informal settlement were spotted splashing each other with water along Fish Eagle on September 1 in celebration of the first day of spring.

When asked why they were playing with water amidst the scarcity of the resource in Gauteng, they responded by saying it’s a ‘township culture.’

Wearing swimming costumes and masks, the children carried buckets of water and poured each other with it while having fun in the sun.

One of the children, Zenonice du Plooy (12), admitted that they were wasting water; hence her parents refused her the opportunity to make use of this resource in her yard.

However, that didn’t stop Zenonice from playing with other children who had access to water.

Excited to be in the new month, another child, Ri-caira Wylbach, said she loved spring because she gets a chance to play outside with her friends in the sun.
