A decomposing body of a woman, who police believe is a young adult, was on August 21 discovered in a field behind the Green Park Estate near Angelo informal settlement.
The discovery was made by a 36-year-old woman who went to the field to collect wood.
According to the woman, Tendai Sibanda, while she and her friend were busy in the field she noticed something that looked like a dead dog.
“I went closer to look and to my surprise, I saw a body of a young woman. The deceased’s face was unrecognisable because her skin had peeled off. I could tell that it was a woman because she was wearing a mini skirt and her hair was dyed in a ginger colour.”
Sibanda notified community leaders in Angelo who then phoned the police.
“Ever since I saw that body my heart is not at peace, I’m always scared. I’m now scared to even go to the field to collect wood because I don’t know what will happen to me.”
Sylvia Letsoalo, deputy chairperson of the CPF in Angelo, mentioned that numerous bodies have been discovered in that same field.
“To try and eliminate such cases, we have engaged the police to patrol the area because we have noticed it has become an active spot for criminals.”
Boksburg North police spokesperson Const Justice Ramaube said the police are still investigating the circumstances that led to the death of the woman.
An inquest case docket has been opened at the Boksburg North SAPS.
