Two local organisations thankful for donations

The Advertiser’s annual Winter Wool Drive donated knitted clothing items to those in need this winter.

After having received donations of knitted baby jerseys, beanies, booties, blankets and teddy bears from the public, the Advertiser’s annual Winter Wool Drive distributed these items to two organisations in Windmill Park and Villa Liza.

The donated items were recently handed over to Khayalabantwana and Villa Liza-based organisation Philasande Community Centre.

The annual drive, which started at the beginning of winter until the end of August, has received knitting needles and knitted items from the public.

Holding the donated teddy bears and scarves are Sibongile Mkhwanazi (the founder of Khayalabantwana) and Sithembiso Dlamini.

All donations of wool and knitting needles went to old-age homes and the knitted blankets, beanies, gloves and scarves were distributed to those in need this past winter.

The founder of Khayalabantwana, Sibongile Mkhwanazi, thanked the Advertiser’s annual Winter Wool project for thinking of them during this time. Khayalabantwana is a drop-in centre that caters for orphaned, neglected, destitute and vulnerable children.

Meanwhile, Phumla Sukazi, manager of Philasande Villa Liza Community Centre, thanked the Advertiser’s annual Winter Wool project team for the support.
