Cash, booze stolen during business robbery at Lilianton tavern

The suspects are still at large and a case of business robbery is under investigation.

A gang of armed men held staff members of the Bafana/Sisonke Tavern in Lilianton at gunpoint and robbed the store of an undisclosed amount of money on August 29.

According to Boksburg North SAPS spokesperson Const Justice Ramaube, a man allegedly stormed into the store at 18:30 and confronted a staff member.

“The suspect told the staff member to go back to the counter where his three colleagues were standing. Three more suspects then approached the counter, aimed guns at the victims and instructed them to lie down on the floor. They then stole cash and alcohol,” said Ramaube.

Ramaube added the suspects fired six shots as they fled the scene on foot. No injuries were reported.

The suspects are still at large and a case of business robbery is under investigation.

This is the same establishment where a 22-year-old woman and her uncle were shot on September 14, 2019. The woman died on scene.
