NCPD Casual Day campaign calls for courage and kindness

The past two years have been challenging for all South Africans, and indeed the entire world.

“The National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD) advocates on behalf of all persons with disabilities in South Africa, and in doing so we cannot overlook the fact that those we support are among the hardest hit by the last two tumultuous years,” said national director Therina Wentzel du Toit.

“NCPD’s Casual Day Campaign aims to raise essential funds to support these persons, and we need your help.

“Inspired by Disney’s global Ultimate Disney Princess Celebration, which champions these qualities, this year’s Casual Day will embody a renewed focus and positivity under the theme Courage and Kindness.”

The campaign kicks off on September 3 until December 3 (International Day of Persons with Disabilities).

Du Toit said in order to make the largest impact in the lives of persons with disabilities, opportunities to participate and contribute will be available beyond Casual Day itself.

“In keeping with this motivation, our stickers and wristbands will remain on sale to raise donations until year-end,” said du Toit.

Wristbands and stickers are available from Jet, Alpha Pharm, Toys R Us and Babies R Us stores, while JAM clothing, Loot.co.za and The Hub will sell stickers.

“A single sticker, much like a mark on a voting ballot, can make a tremendous difference for the entire nation. So even if you and your family are feeling the economic effects of the pandemic, a mere donation of R20 can still go a long way to helping our beneficiaries.”

The NCPD will roll out further fundraising events (such as the NCPD Nappy Run in November) until the end of the year.
