UPDATE: Police officer killed in Boksburg shoot-out to be buried today

The police are appealing to anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspects to call 08600 10111.

Const Molwantwa George Molefi, who was shot dead along Jubilee Road on July 23, will be laid to rest tjis morning in Sebokeng.

Police Minister Bheki Cele is set to deliver the eulogy at the funeral service.

Molefi’s memorial service was held in Sebokeng on July 29 and was attended by men and women in blue from various police stations.

The Gauteng Highway Patrol officer died during a shoot-out with a suspect who hijacked a VW Golf to flee from the police who had raided a house in Rangeview Road in Dalpark, where he and other men were found allegedly conspiring to commit a cash-in-transit robbery.

His alleged killer is still at large, but police are following up on leads.

At the house, police recovered three R5 rifles, four AK-47s, two pistols, two explosive charges and nine vehicles, of which four were identified as hijacked or stolen. The police arrested 19 suspects, while two others were shot dead.

Investigations into the murder and other related incidents continue.
