Foundation feeds the hungry amidst pandemic

The Community Development Foundation recently descended on Boksburg where it visited different communities to feed the hungry, amidst the Covid-19 third wave.

During the special treat, the beneficiaries enjoyed hot soup and bread.
The hundreds of residents who recently benefitted from the foundation’s charity gesture are the learners of Ekukhanyeni Primary School in Ramaphosa and residents of Driefontein and Kanana informal settlements.

The principal of the school, Enid Gwangwa, and community leaders in the informal settlements were grateful for the generous support from the foundation.

According to the founder of the organisation, Past Barlin Govender, apart from the recent food donations to local communities, the organisation has for more than a decade been supporting Ekukhanyeni Primary with food, winter clothing, as well as maintenance of the school.

Govender stated that since last year they have donated hundreds of thousands of food parcels to needy people, especially those affected by the pandemic.
“Our foundation came into existence in 2000, and we take care of communities all over South Africa,” said Govender.

“I’m very passionate about people as I also come from a poor background. I’ve found that there is a tremendous need for food, clothing, housing and other basic needs in disadvantaged communities, including informal settlements.

“Caring for and helping others give me a great amount of joy and pleasure. My slogan in life is ‘Today is my last day on Earth. I will endeavour to do everything to my best for my fellow brother and sister to make them happy’.”
