Ward-based War Room also provides Covid-19 testing

Covid-19 tests are offered parallel to assisting citizens who are 60 years and older to be registered on the Electronic Vaccination Data System (EVDS).

Ekurhuleni residents are advised that services offered by the Ward-Based War Room (WBWR) team members also include rapid testing for Covid-19 that provide same-day results.

The WBWR team comprising environmental health practitioners, health promoters and professional nurses visited Ramaphosa Taxi Rank on June 21. They will be visiting the Boksburg Civic Centre and taxi rank on June 30.

“The City continues to work hand-in-hand with the provincial government in strengthening the fight against Covid-19, and among its efforts is the convenient rapid Covid-19 test that is provided at the various areas that the teams visit,” said MMC for Health and Social Services Clr Nomadlozi Nkosi.

The MMC stated that Covid-19 tests are offered parallel to assisting citizens who are 60 years and older to be registered on the Electronic Vaccination Data System (EVDS). Residents are strongly encouraged to take up the opportunity and utilise the services offered by the teams,” said Nkosi.

Since the launch of the WBWR last year, health practitioners in the City have been targeting hot spots in their fight.
Services rendered in the identified hot spots include, but are not limited to:
• Door-to-door public awareness and education
• Health screening including Covid-19 testing
• Mobile clinic services
• Registration on to the EVDS
