Sewage spill makes life hell for Boksburg residents

Schoen pointed out the business people have done what they can to try to stop the spillage, but it seems futile.

Business operators at Roadring Business Park on North Rand Road complain that they have been forced to work in unhealthy conditions due to the metro’s delay to attend to a broken or clogged sewage line.

This has caused raw sewage to spill onto the property.
One of the business operators, Len Schoen, said they have since May 28 been asking for assistance from the municipality without success.

The smell of sewage permeates the entire business park.

“It’s unbearable. We reported it many times, but the municipality does nothing to stop the sewage seeping through the manhole and streaming across our yard, before entering the nearby streets,” said Schoen.

Schoen pointed out the business people have done what they can to try to stop the spillage, but it seems futile.

Another complainant, Shawn van der Linde, said he and his neighbours have for months been forced to accommodate a reported sewage spillage on Sixth Street in Boksburg North.

“The sewage spillage has been making our lives intolerable for the past four months,” said van der Linde.
No comment received from the metro yet.
