Ekurhuleni load-shedding schedule updated again

Customers from the City of Ekurhuleni are urged to contact the municipality directly for the City’s load-shedding schedule and outages or visit their website (www.ekurhuleni.gov.za).

Eskom has confirmed that the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) load-shedding schedule has been revised again, and its critical load would be excluded.

The utility issued a statement on June 4 stating critical loads from CoE would be excluded from the load-shedding schedule with immediate effect. This decision follows an agreement between Eskom and CoE in a meeting held on June 3.

“The City’s load-shedding schedule has been revised to accommodate the exclusion of the critical loads.

“The City will be managing all the substations that feed these critical loads while Eskom continues to implement load-shedding in the rest of the remaining areas,” said Daphne Mokwena, senior manager for customer services in Gauteng.

Last week, the two utilities reached an agreement that Eskom will implement load-shedding in the City’s licenced area of supply. This is due to the inability of the City to implement load-shedding on its own. Eskom will follow the two-hour load-shedding blocks.
