#WinterWoolDrive: Advertiser’s Wool project receives welcome boost

Community members and social knitting circles are still welcome to support our annual wool drive.

The Advertiser’s wool project recently received a welcome boost due to a Sunward Park resident.

Jill Green dropped off a donation of knitted and crocheted items such as baby jerseys, mittens, beanies, booties, blankets and lovey blankets.

The 59-year-old explained she has been an avid knitter from a young age and is passionate about helping the needy.

“I made the items for a charity but found out they did not require what I made. Then the ad about the Advertiser’s wool project popped up,” she explained.

The Advertiser wishes to thank Green for her generous contribution.

All donations of wool and knitting needles will go to old-age homes and other community members interested in knitting squares, which can be sewn into blankets or knit beanies, gloves, scarves and the like for distribution to those in need this winter.

Organisations with social knitting circles who would like to knit squares or anyone wanting more information can email Elize Kluyts at elizek@caxton.co.za
