Cyclist injured in Boksburg hit-and-run

It's unclear if the incident is being investigated by police, as several attempts to get a comment from the SAPS spokesperson proved unsuccessful.

A Boksburg North man lamented how he was knocked off his bicycle in a hit-and-run on Trichardts Road and left injured on the side of the road on May 11.

An eyewitness who was also almost hit by the same vehicle described the vehicle involved as a white Subaru Forester.
The cyclist, Rudolph le Roux, said he can’t believe he survived after the crash sent him to the ground, injuring his right hip.

The cyclist survived being hit by a vehicle as he was cycling along Trichardts Road. His family is appealing for information that may help to track down the driver.

An ambulance rushed him to Tambo Hospital, where he was treated and later discharged.
“I was cycling between the yellow line and the pavement on Trichardts Road Bridge towards Boksburg North at about 6pm. All of a sudden I heard a loud noise, and the next thing I was lying on the side of the road with my legs on the bicycle.
“The car ploughed into me from behind with such impact that the back wheel was badly damaged. Luckily, no broken bones showed up on the X-ray.”

Le Roux said he was first assisted by the eyewitness who was also almost hit by the vehicle.
“It’s shocking that the driver didn’t even bother to stop to check if I was okay.”

The victim’s family is asking anyone with information to contact the victim’s brother-in-law on 061 514 0890.
The family said the incident was reported to the Boksburg North police, but several attempts to get a comment from the spokesperson proved unsuccessful.
