Little girl with craniofacial deformity in need of support

Mia's parents described her as a loving girl with a strong personality

Freeway Park’s Mia Nordeje (6), who has a craniofacial deformity, needs the community’s support.

Mia was born without cheekbones and has no proper structure under her eyes to protect her eyes.

The little girl’s parents, Dessri and Eddie Nordeje explained that Mia now urgently needs to undergo an operation.

“It is important for her to go for a fat-grafting operation because of the risk that the lower eyelids can pop inside out and expose the eyes,” Dessri said.

The family would like to get the operation done before she goes to Grade One next year.
The parents stressed they need funds to pay for the surgery.

“We would appreciate it if you can open your hearts to assist us to raise funds for her operations to be done as soon as possible.”

Mia is also in need of a hearing aid because she is deaf in one ear.

Dessri and Eddie started a Back-a-Buddy page, https://www.backabuddy.co.za/mia-nordeje, and are organising fund-raising events for Mia’s medical costs.

You can support the fund-raising events to assist Mia’s family.

There will be a Thank you for the music ABBA, Queen and Elton John tribute held at Emperors Palace on July 31 at 8pm. Tickets are R195. Contact Estelle on 082 790 4781 or email at Estelle@acchambers.co.za.

Darkness to Light, in conjunction with Babbelbekkies, is selling raffle tickets for R100 for a hunting package at Phumula Private Game Lodge (three-night accommodation for 14 people) to the value of R28 000.

They are also selling raffle tickets for R50 for a weekend away at Phumula Private Nature Reserve to the value of R14 440.

The parents expressed their gratitude to those who supported them so far.

“I would like to thank her Back-a-buddy, Anzel Lotter, and Estelle, of Darkness to Light, Karen van Zyl, of Babbelbekkies (Mia’s school), CJ Nienaber, Terblance and Klarinda Stander, of Hoërskool John Vorster, and Jaco Scholtz,” Dessri added.

If you can help the family in any way, contact Dessri on 073 214 2254 or Eddie on 082 455 9436.
