The Reiger Park SAPS team will continue to raid illegal shebeens

The Reiger Park police destroyed 123 crates of alcohol seized during separate raids on unlicensed taverns on March 18.

Police disposed of about 1 000 litres of booze by pouring it down the drain at the police station.

The liquor was confiscated from illegal shebeens in Reiger Park and Ramaphosa informal settlement in the last few weeks.

Reiger Park SAPS spokesperson Sgt Mashusdu Phathela said in their policing precinct alcohol is the biggest contributor to crime.

Capt Patrick Diadia (Vispol commander) and Sgt Audrie Nsimbini (Vispol member) pouring seized beer down the drain.

“We’re going to continue to raid illegal shebeens,” Phathela said.

He highlighted that four suspects were arrested for dealing without a liquor licence between February 27 and March 15.

They all paid fines of R1 500 as admission of guilt.
