Clubs join to create a cleaner environment

Edenvale and Benoni Ladies Circle South Africa and Jukskei Round Table 217 held a clean-up on Star Street in Atlasville on Sunday morning.
This is after members from the respective groups saw a post in an Atlasville community group about the area needing a clean-up following several unanswered enquiries to the municipality.

This was also an international event whereby around 15 000 items of litter were picked up between March 1 and 7. Litter collected was logged using the Litterati app.

Approximately 20 adults and 10 children took part in the clean-up, which one of the organisers has seen as a success.
“I feel it was a great success and we made an impact,” said Benoni Ladies Circle chairperson Lauran Michael.

“We also hope we have raised some awareness in the community and people will think twice before littering and rather use a dustbin. We also hoped to have raised some more awareness around both Round Table and Ladies Circle.”

PR Packaging contributed to the cause by sponsoring gloves and plastic bags.

Michael also paid tribute to PR Packaging and everyone who was involved. She added that there will definitely be another clean-up but a date is yet to be set.
