The National Senior Certificate (NSC) matric results have been released and matriculants from Boksburg excelled despite a challenging academic year.

Hoërskool Oosterlig’s Class of 2020 achieved a 97.98 per cent pass rate, 146 distinctions and 81.2 per cent bachelor pass.
A total of 199 matriculants at the school sat for their NSC examinations.

Francois Nel, principal of the school, said: “We’re a bit disappointed that we didn’t get a 100 per cent pass rate, but we’re proud of what our learners achieved during a challenging year.
“However, we’re very excited to note a 6.8 per cent improvement in our bachelor passes and a 31 per cent in distinctions,” Nel said.
Furthermore, the principal thanked the teachers and learners for their hard work and parents for their support.
“My message to the Class of 2021 is that we must work hard to improve on our previous achievements. We must also bear in mind that the pandemic isn’t over yet,” he added.
Sunward Park High School
Sunward Park High School’s matriculants received a pass rate of 93.91 percent, a 3.59 drop from the 97.5 per cent achieved the previous year.
The school achieved 142 distinctions with a 58.02 per cent bachelor pass. Ansie Peens, principal of the school, said she is extremely proud of the Class of 2020.
“I would like to wish them well in their future endeavours. We would also like to thank our parents for their unwavering support shown to the school and learners,” she said.
The principal pointed out that the Covid-19 pandemic has had an impact on the school’s results.
