Bokkie Park market moved to February 20

All crafters and visitors sanitise before they fill in a register, which includes personal details and their temperature reading

The next Bokkie Park Food and Craft Market will be on February 20 and not February 6 as scheduled.

Organiser Janine Richardson explained they have decided to move the market due to the weather predicted for the weekend.

Visitors must note all Covid-19 regulations must be adhered to when entering the park.

Richardson said a Covid-19 safety plan has been drawn up by a professional health and safety service provider and it has been approved by the Ekurhuleni City before their markets at the Bokkie and Bunny parks were allowed to resume.

“We have a compliance officer, wearing a safety vest, on duty throughout the day,” she said. “He monitors the gate – we only have one gate open – and controls the number of people going in and out. Once we reach our quota, we wait for people to leave before we let anyone else in.

“There is a banner at the gate highlighting the Covid-19 regulations – no mask, no entry, keep social distancing, avoid touching your face, eyes nose and mouth, clean and disinfect regularly with hand sanitiser and no smoking.

“There is also a foot-operated hand sanitiser at the entrance. All crafters and visitors sanitise before they fill in a register, which includes personal details and their temperature reading.

“Wearing of a mask is compulsory for crafters and visitors. All crafters also have sanitiser at their tables for customers to use and crafters maintain a safe distance from customers by putting their tables across the front of their stall between themselves and the shoppers.

“All our seating areas comply with the 1.5m distancing plan. There are many markets operating across Gauteng at the moment. Markets are not regarded as a gathering or event under Covid-19 regulations, but as an outdoor shopping venue. “The markets have been allowed to continue within the confines of the law.

“Most important is having a limited access point, which both the Bokkie and Bunny parks enjoy.”

• Note: The Boksburg Advertiser Car Boot Sale and the Benoni City Times Car Boot Sale will resume as part of the monthly food and craft markets at the Bokkie and Bunny parks in March (March 6 at the Bokkie Park and March 27 at the Bunny Park).
