The Boksburg North police have launched a manhunt for four suspects who allegedly shot two security guards during a shootout at the intersection of Rondebult and North Rand roads at around 9.30am on January 27.

The attack happened while the security guards were escorting a DSW courier vehicle transporting cellphones.

According to Capt Pearl van Staad, spokesperson for Brakpan police, four occupants of a white BMW started shooting at the courier and the security vehicles.

At the crime scene where the two security guards were shot.

“The courier vehicle managed to speed off to a safe destination while the security guards were shot at until their vehicle came to a complete halt. The suspects then took the security guards’ firearms and fled the scene.
“The wounded guards were rushed to a nearby hospital with multiple injuries. They are reportedly in a critical but stable condition,” van Staad said.

The police are investigating a case of armed robbery and attempted murder.
