Level three extension causes delays in service delivery calls

All service delivery departments are operating with one third of employees per building to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the work place

The second surge of Covid-19 which resulted in the extension of the lockdown level three regulations has affected the response time to service delivery calls in the Ekurhuleni metro.
According to Solly Mashabela, the metro spokesperson, all service delivery departments are operating with one third of employees per building to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the work place.
“The metro’s employees in departments such as water and sanitations, energy, waste management services, parks and cemeteries work on a rotational basis.
“This arrangement may affect the response time to service delivery calls.
“The metro aims to strike a balance between preserving employees’ lives while also ensuring that ratepayers’ service needs are attended to.”
He added that all non-essential workers are working from home.
“The metro apologises for any inconvenience caused and will communicate any changes in the future as per the president’s address,” said Mashabela.
