Melissa Moyani from Dawn Park was recently announced a Miss Teen East Rand semi-finalist.
The 17-year-old, who was a matriculant at Sunward Park High School last year, said she is ready for the finals as she has been working around the clock to prepare for it.
“I want to leave a legacy when I win this competition. I also want to address issues women face such as gender-based violence and empower women.
“Furthermore, I want to give back to the community. I’m doing a food drive for people in need and I’m planning to do a toy drive for underprivileged children. I also interact with our youth, mainly online, about the social issues we face as the youth,” the finalist said.
