LALT students perform well despite lockdown

More than 60 LALT HOG students participated in 2020's performance exams, and the local theatre school obtained 25 platinum awards (above 90 per cent) and 54 distinctions

Despite a challenging year due to the pandemic, students of LALT House of Growth (HOG), previously known as LALT Theatre House, performed well in 2020.
According to the director of the school, Louw Breytenbach, students made great strides with their annual student exams through the National Arts Association.
“More than 60 LALT HOG students participated in 2020’s performance exams, and the local theatre school obtained 25 platinum awards (above 90 per cent) and 54 distinctions.
“HOG also received an honorary award as East Rand studio of the year and gold accreditation for these results,” Breytenbach said.

Furthermore, LALT HOG students were also cast by CoolerBox Brothers, based in Boksburg, for the new show on VIA, channel 147 on DStv, Wian.
Students performed in four episodes of the Afrikaans reality show with Wian van den Berg (Magic), one of South Africa’s leading Tik-Tok stars.
“We are very blessed to have received so many wonderful opportunities during lockdown, and our students just once more proved that theatre knows no bounds or limits. At LALT HOG we believe you can do anything you set your mind to, and every student lived up to this,” Breytenbach said.
