Show some respect for tea!

The ritual of tea drinking needs to be on point in these trouble times, believes this reader

Peter Bachtis writes:

Can it be OK to have tea in a mug? Discerning tea drinkers insist on having their tea brewed in a suitable porcelain pot, and served in matching porcelain tea cups.

Mugs should be outlawed as the tea drinking ritual, invoking harmony and grace, is distorted by this vile container. Those who invented mugs should be banished to a remote island, never to be seen again.

Drinking tea in these times of trouble should be accompanied by either cucumber sandwiches or freshly baked butter scones, with lashings of clotted cream and homemade strawberry jam.

It is incumbent on all civilised tea drinkers, to reprogramme the emerging mug generation. Mugs indeed!
