The former deputy principal of Sunward Park High School, Enoch Thango, is now the new principal of Boksburg High School.
He commenced his new duties on December 1, taking over the reigns from Helene Boshoff.
The 51-year-old Norkem Park resident, who is no stranger to the educational fraternity, has over 29 years’ teaching experience.
Speaking to the Advertiser, Thango expressed excitement about the new position, saying he was ready to make impactful contributions to the school.
“I have so far been welcomed with open arms by the staff members, who have been nothing but kind to me. I am excited to be leading such a dynamic team with vast knowledge and experience,” Thango said.
About Thango
He holds a BSc in chemical science from the University of the Witwatersrand.
In 2003, he obtained his post-graduate certificate in education through Unisa. In 2011 he obtained his advanced certificate in education from the University of Johannesburg.
He joined Sunward Park High in 2002 and has served as deputy principal and acting principal of the school. He also taught physical sciences to Grade 11 and 12 learners at the school.
He was a key member of the team that managed the transition from printed textbooks into a fully digital platform in January 2013.
His leadership capabilities received a nod from MEC of Education Panyaza Lesufi when he was invited, with Sunward Park High principal Ansie Peens, to serve in his ICT management committee in an advisory capacity.
Meanwhile, he has also served the Department of Education as a functional mathematics Grade 12 senior certificate examiner from 2000 to 2003.
He also boasts 20 years of marking experience for mathematics and physical sciences. Between 2006 and 2010 he served as a physical sciences cluster leader for Ekurhuleni South District.
