Scribante Golden Walkers Athletic club trip to Rietvlei a success

The main objective of the residents’ initiative is to help the senior citizens improve their fitness levels

Members of the Scribante Golden Walkers Athletic Club, which was recently established by Andries Scribante Haven residents, went on a hiking trip at the Rietvlei Zoo Farm on December 14.
Chairperson of the club Donovan Coopman described the outing, where club members walked for 5km, as a success.
“It was wonderful and everybody enjoyed the trip,” the chairperson said.
Furthermore, he expressed his gratitude to community members and businesses such as Kerr’s Funeral Undertakers and Stevies Butchery for supporting the club’s fund-raising initiative.
“Their support helped us to pay for expenses such as transport, which was about R 1200,” he added.

Annatjie Liebenberg and Marietjie Gouws enjoyed the trip.

The chairperson explained that the main objective of the residents’ initiative is to help the senior citizens improve their fitness levels.
Members of the walking club walk about 3km in areas such as Cason Road and Champion Street, Boksburg North, on Mondays and Thursdays at 4pm.
Coopman said anybody over 60 years is welcome to join the club.
Community members can still support the club’s fund-raising initiatives:
• Club members are selling raffle tickets for R15 each for Marietjie Gouws’s hand-made 3D painting to the value of R3 500 until March 6, 2021.
• The chairperson is selling coconut-covered koeksisters. Kerr’s Funeral Undertakers is already supporting the initiative.
• Committee members Brooks and Thomas are selling milk tarts.
• Jan Hermaans and Wilfred Campbell from the walking club are embarking on a roti and curry run. Stevies Butchery in Reiger Park is supporting them.
