Workshop enlightens community about business pros of recycling

Mandla Nkosi Foundation is planning another special workshop next year for the youth

Mandla Nkosi Foundation hosted its first community recycling workshop called Amathandamvelo Entry for amateur recyclers at the Boksburg East Railway Station on December 3.

More than 20 Boksburg residents attended the workshop, which was aimed at empowering recyclers with skills on how they can establish their own recycling business and the benefits of recycling.

According to the founder of the foundation, Mandla Nkosi, they also shared ideas on how they can assist recyclers with road safety trolleys and PPE.

“We are hoping to continue next year with these workshops because we saw a need to educate trolley pushers about the broader business of recycling. Next year we are planning to host a special workshop for the youth where we will teach them how they can recycle and strip computers, televisions, smartphone’s and other gadgets,” he said.

Nkosi thanked the City of Ekurhuleni’s Waste Department for their support and Envirotrike for their good quality visible trolley that they’ve donated.

Mandla Nkosi Foundation was established a few years ago with the purpose of promoting environmental awareness and to create job opportunities through recycling.
