Night shift cleaning services may get to your town in 2023

There are plans in place to also roll out these projects to the other CBD areas

This publication recently reported that in a bid to keep Ekurhuleni clean, the metro recently introduced a night shift cleaning programme to clean the CBDs and industrial areas.
This cleaning programme will, however, only hit the vast majority of the towns in Ekurhuleni in 2023. For now, the initiative is set as a pilot project which is only concentrated in Germiston and Alberton.
“There are plans in place to also roll out these projects to the other CBD areas, starting from the 2023 financial year – depending on the availability of the budget,” said metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe.
These towns include Kempton Park, Springs, Benoni, Brakpan, Bedfordview, Edenvale and Boksburg.
When asked the metro as to what informed its decision to select the two towns, Germiston and Alberton, Gadebe said: “The CBD areas of Alberton and Germiston were outsourced since 2005. There are no internal employees permanently placed to service these areas. The scope of work was extended to cover the night shift on the new contract.”
